Local students complete succesful food and toy drive

Students at Woodinville’s Montessori School flexed their philanthropic muscles late last year and collected thousands of dollars in food and toys to help local families in need.

The sixth graders launched their two-week Hopelink Food and Toy Drive in November, and despite losing two collection days to heavy snow, the kids ended up with 800 pounds of food, more than 150 toys and nearly $100 in gift cards for Hopelink’s Kirland/Northshore location.

Not only did the students rally to collect the food, but they helped out by sorting donated food and gifts, checking expiration dates and moving crates of food at Hopelink.
